Advise on a possible compatible USB<>UART adapter

Hello everyone,

Hope that everyone's safe.

I'm looking forward to test a certain device, that's supposed to be connected to a RPI under the UART interface (+5v GND RX TX).

As I'm not even risking voiding the warranty of the Jigsaw, I was looking for any kind of USB adapter that would allow me to connect the UART interface of the device, to a USB on the Jigsaw, and therefore try to use the "Basic" device to see if something happens, and try to do the integration.

Most of the adapters I see on the internet refer drivers, etc. I was looking for something more straightforward, as I just want to connect via USB to the Jigsaw.

Any advise? Anyone ever used this kind of adapter on the Jigsaw / Grinder / Whatever?

Hi,

Thanks guys! I will try to use any of those devices.

If succeeded in the testings, probably I will have another integration available, with an awarded radio technology alarm system (no advertising yet, until a successful test is done). Probably it will take some days until I get the adapter, and the parts needed for the integration.

I have a Jigsaw so I tried connecting up some USB serial devices that I have to hand. Both the FTDI 232 and the Prolific 2303 seem to connect showing as /dev/ttyUSB0 in the Linux device list. The Basic driver shows the device as /dev/serial/by-path/platform-3f980000.usb-usb-0:1.2:1.0-port0 although I haven't tried to use it.

I'm running bOS 4.7.0 on Linux version 5.4.83-5-ARCH. My Jigsaw is four or five years old so out of warranty but still working perfectly!

Hello Ricardo,

in one of our testing environments we used the CP2102 Module USB adapter (possibly this one https://hobbycomponents.com/usb-interface/396-usb-to-uart-serial-interface-module-adaptor) however we didn't try it on a Jigsaw server, we always used it on windows machine, but it should be worth a try.
